Having a picnic at the Eiffel Tower

Having a picnic at the Eiffel Tower

Paris is well known for its amazing restaurants and cafes. The French cuisine has to be some of the best in the world, and there is no doubt that you will enjoy some amazing food when you’re in Paris.

We enjoyed many restaurants and tried lots of delicious French dishes and wine. But eating in Paris doesn’t always mean eating at restaurants. Sometimes a picnic in one of Paris’ beautiful parks is a good option, particularly at lunch time. Imagine eating fresh bread, cheese and olives, with a nice glass of French wine or Champagne, while looking out at the Eiffel Tower. Just perfect.

For a great restaurant with a wonderful view, we can highly recommend Le Flore en l’Ile on beautiful Ile Saint Louis. The food and wine was excellent, and dining outside provides a beautiful view of the Seine.

Another wonderful area we found for dining was the Saint Michel area near the Latin Quarter, where a maze of little narrow streets are home to lots of interesting and affordable places to eat. It was here that I tried my first escargot (snails) which is a must try in French cuisine.

Eating in Paris - Escargot

Escargot may sound and look unappetizing, however it is delicious

Of course, you should try a French steak – a dish that they do so very well.
